One of the first eyeshadow palettes I ever purchased was from Too Faced, the Natural Eye Palette. I fell in love with the palette and decided to invest in a few more over time. One of my latest eyeshadow palettes purchased from Too Faced was their Romantic Eye Palette ($36).
One of the first reasons that I fell in love with Too Faced eyeshadow palettes was because of their ‘look cards.’ Back when I first started doing makeup I had no idea what I was doing. At first, I pretty much just applied a single shadow over my entire lid and called it good! I really had no idea how to create looks, or what colors to put together or where to put them. Luckily, my Too Faced Palette came with these handy ‘look cards’ that described what colors to use and where to put the colors; in both text and picture form.
Just like the other palettes I own from Too Faced, I really love the packaging of the Romantic Eye Palette. It is very beautiful, whimsical and romantic! Upon opening the nice magnetic closure, you will see nine different shadows that are divided horizontally into three different looks. The shadows are designed into looks where the colors coordinate with each other; with the largest shadows being your most used base color for the look. Next to your base color you will see the lid and crease colors for that look.
The nine eyeshadows included in this palette are:
Day Look
- Soulmate: a beautiful shimmery cream color with sheens of pink
- I-Do: A matte taupe
- Un-veil: a matte chocolate brown
Classic Look
- Kiss The Bride: A matte baby pink
- Cut The Cake: A beautiful shimmery lavender
- First Dance: an eggplant color with subtle shimmer
Fashion Look
- Bouquet Toss : a soft matte cream
- Honeymoon: a gorgeous smooth shimmery gold
- Ever After: a gorgeous smooth shimmery bronzed brown shade
The Day look is of course your more neutral look. I personally would wear this look with a pencil or gel eyeliner in place of the un-veil shadow and I would use un-veil in the outer V corner just for a little definition. The classic look is surprisingly my favorite look. I do not usually wear pink shades but I am loving the way the look turned out on me. The Fashion look is your most dramatic look with lots of shimmer, perfect for a night out!
When I first started makeup I really enjoyed the ‘look cards’ but now that I know what I am doing (most of the time lol) I decided to put together my own look, which I feature in the below picture. So whether you are a beginner (like I was at first) or you are more advance (like I am now) this palette, or the others would make a great addition to your collection.
To create this look I used the following products:
Eyes Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer Too Faced Romantic Eye Palette: Day used all over my lid Honeymoon applied to the first two-thirds of my lid I-Do applied and blended in my crease Un-Veil used in the outer corners of my eyes and blended in Ever after used in the outer V and blended out Fashion used underneath the brow bone Marbella Liquid Eyeliner Too Faced Lash injection mascara NYX Jumbo eyeliner pencil in milk for my waterline Eyebrows YBF your best friend eye brow pencil ELF Wetgloss Lash and Brow Clear mascara Cheeks Too Faced Sun Bunny Bronzer under cheekbones Too Faced Glamour To Go Fairy Edition Palette Blush in Sheer Coral Lips Laura Geller Lip Spackle Cargo the Reverse Lip Liner MAC Innocence Beware SummaryRating: A+ Overall: A great palette with beautiful, high quality, coordinating shadows. The shadows have great pigmentation, with the mattes being silky smooth and the shimmers being soft and velvety. I also like that there are several of both matte and shimmer shadows, plus the names are adorable! Where to purchase: Too Faced Price: $36
